Makes 2 dozen.

2 squares chocolate
1/4 cup milk
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups granulated white sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup nuts [opt.]
1/3 cup butter or shortening

Cut chocolate in pan and cook with milk until melted. Beat eggs and sugar and add to chocolate mixture. Cool. Add vanilla, flour, salt, and add shortening last. Bake 25 minutes in slow oven.
